Honda Civic Type R performed well in tests

Matt Neal, driving a Honda Civic Type R, sets another-third already-track lap record as part of the 2019 Type R Challenge project. This time we are talking about the Silverstone track.

Honda continues its Type R Challenge 2019 project, designed to break many lap records of the world's most famous race tracks, driving a Honda Civic Type R. A began with the famous Northern loop of the nürburgring circuit.

Now, after the success achieved at the Magny-Cours and Spa – Francorchamps tracks, the ultra-fast Japanese hatchback has set another lap record-at the GP Silverstone track in the UK.

With a time of 2 min. 31.32 sec. it improved the previous record for a production car with front-wheel drive, belonging, however, to the previous generation of the Civica Type R and installed in a similar enterprise, in 2016.

At the helm of the Civica Type R 10. three-time BTCC champion and current driver of the Halfords Yuasa Racing team, Matt Neal, who starts in this racing series with the same model.
Silverstone is a unique 5.89 km long track, characterized by fast straight and fast turns, as well as more technical sections that require high driving accuracy. The Honda Civic Type R drives a 2.0-liter VTEC TURBO engine, whose parameters allowed Neal to maximize the car's advantages both on the straights and when exiting corners quickly.
